Misomatch

The challenge

MisoMatch is an online platform for people affected by misophonia, a condition in which certain sounds trigger emotional or physiological responses. It aims to give people with shared experiences a place to find resources and support.

The platform needed more than information pages: a members-only area with exclusive content, and tools that let members connect with each other, both globally and locally, as the community grows.

What we did

We built MisoMatch on WordPress, using its flexible themes and plugins for a design tailored to the misophonia community and an architecture that scales with traffic and content.

Members-only area

  • User registration and personal profiles where members share their experiences
  • Content restriction so premium resources, such as in-depth articles, coping strategies and product reviews, are available only to registered members
  • Forums and group creation for discussions, coping tips and organizing meetups online or in person

Local and global connections

  • Local group tools so members can find and meet others nearby
  • Roommate matching to help members find compatible roommates committed to a trigger-free home
  • A diverse global community that strengthens advocacy and awareness for misophonia accommodations
