La Jolla Personal Training

The challenge

La Jolla Personal Training, led by trainer Fabien Uteau, offers concierge-level personal training for adults 40 and beyond in La Jolla, Del Mar and Solana Beach, both in clients’ homes and online. Its services focus on mobility, pain relief and rehabilitation, and strength and flexibility, built around Fabien’s Assess, Rebuild, Retrain method and a complimentary private assessment.

The existing site had served the business well early on but was showing its age:

  • Poor mobile responsiveness
  • Clunky navigation that buried key information
  • Visuals that didn’t capture the calm, empowering feel of coastal training
  • Steady traffic, but visitors hesitated on the homepage instead of booking

What we did

Discovery and strategy

We audited the existing site, reviewed high-end competitors and surveyed Fabien’s ideal clients. The brief was a simple single-page site with evocative visuals and clear calls to action, built on WordPress so it can grow with blog content, email integrations and future features. We iterated on wireframes and tested hero headlines with Fabien until Reclaim Your Mobility, Effortlessly landed.

Design and content

  • A hero image of La Jolla shores and a headline presenting personalized in-home and online training for adults 40+, with a Claim Your Free Private Assessment call to action placed using heatmapping
  • A fixed navigation bar with anchor links to Our Methodology, Real Results and Get Started
  • Montserrat and Open Sans typography and a coastal palette of ocean blues, warm sands and whites, built to WCAG 2.1
  • Three illustrated cards explaining Assess, Rebuild, Retrain
  • A rotating carousel of client testimonials linked to the assessment form

Conversion, SEO and hosting

  • A lightweight assessment form asking three questions: goals, location preference and availability
  • An exit-intent popup offering a 5-Minute Mobility Checklist PDF that feeds Fabien’s email sequence
  • Meta tags targeting searches such as La Jolla in-home trainer, plus schema markup
  • SSL, GDPR-compliant forms, tracking for calls to action and form submissions, and Google Analytics 4
  • A responsive layout that loads in under two seconds, hosted on WP Engine managed WordPress hosting
