John Boesky

The challenge

John Boesky is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT) who has helped individuals, couples and families in San Diego since 2004. He is also a Master NLP Practitioner, Certified Hypnotherapist and Certified Dharma Life Coach.

His website, johnboesky.com, had been neglected for years by a previous provider and no longer reflected the quality of his work:

• A stale design and content that didn’t present his current services or expertise
• Rankings that had dropped so far the site was nearly invisible in San Diego therapy searches
• Slow load times caused by technical issues
• No clear calls to action to turn visitors into clients

What we did

A new foundation on WP Engine

We migrated the site to WP Engine managed WordPress hosting for faster page loads through EverCache, high uptime, proactive security monitoring, automatic updates, automatic HTTPS and a CDN. Server-side caching also removed the need for extra caching plugins.

Redesign

• A clean, professional, mobile-responsive WordPress design aligned with his practice
• Refreshed, empathetic content on individual counseling, couples therapy and family therapy, drawing on his credentials
• Simpler navigation to services, testimonials and contact details, with a prominent free consultation call to action
• New sections presenting his experience, client success stories and qualifications

SEO

• Keyword research with Google Search Console and a keyword generator on terms such as therapist in San Diego and marriage counseling San Diego, applied to titles, meta descriptions and headers
• Refreshed content and new blog posts on topics such as therapy for anxiety and couples counseling, with local terms for San Diego
• Schema markup, image compression, internal linking and mobile optimization
• Fixes for broken links with the Redirection plugin, a single canonical URL and an updated XML sitemap
• Backlinks from reputable mental health sites, an optimized Google Business Profile with review requests, and social promotion of blog posts

Ongoing monitoring

We track rankings, crawl errors, organic traffic and conversions in Google Search Console and Google Analytics, and keep refreshing content to maintain and improve rankings.
