Third Time’s the Peninsula: Inside the New JaneCarhart.com
There’s a particular satisfaction that comes from working with a client through multiple evolutions of their business – watching them grow, shift markets, and refine their brand with each chapter. Jane Carhart is exactly that kind of client, and her latest website, janecarhart.com, is the third site we’ve built together. Each version has reflected a new geography, a new focus, and a sharpened sense of who she is as a luxury real estate advisor.
This time, we built for the Olympic Peninsula.
A Three-Chapter Story
Jane’s digital presence has followed her career westward across Washington State’s most remarkable landscapes.
The first site was built around the San Juan Islands — that iconic archipelago of forested islands, whale-watching straits, and Friday Harbor charm. The second followed her work on Bainbridge Island, the ferry-ride-from-Seattle community that attracts buyers who want Pacific Northwest character without sacrificing proximity to the city.
Now, Jane has planted herself on the Olympic Peninsula — and this third site was designed to match the scale and ambition of that move. The Olympic Peninsula isn’t a boutique destination. It’s one of the largest wildernesses in the American West: temperate rainforest, glacier-capped peaks, wild Pacific coastline, and communities like Sequim, Port Townsend, Port Ludlow, and Port Angeles that each carry their own distinct identity and buyer profile.
The site had to hold all of that — and it does.
What We Built
Jane represents properties with Realogics Sotheby’s International Realty, and her buyer profile skews toward discerning, lifestyle-driven purchasers — often from out of state, often with a deep appreciation for the Pacific Northwest’s natural environment. The design reflects that: unhurried, visually generous, and built around the landscapes that make the Olympic Peninsula worth moving to.
The homepage opens with a full-screen hero that immediately establishes place — Olympic Peninsula · Washington State— alongside evocative copy that frames the decision to buy here as a lifestyle choice, not just a real estate transaction. Jane’s biography is given prominent, editorial placement: her background in landscape architecture, 15 years of international living in Europe, and her identity as a boater, pilot, and skier all signal genuine personal connection to the territory she represents.
Community pages for Sequim, Port Townsend, Port Ludlow, Port Angeles, and the broader Olympic Peninsula give each market room to breathe — photography-forward layouts with descriptive copy that goes beyond square footage and median price points. Property search is powered by the Realogics platform, integrated directly into the navigation so buyers move from inspiration to active search without friction.
The Buyers and Sellers sections follow a clean, process-driven structure: staging, pricing strategy, photography, financing — the full advisory picture, organized for clarity.
The Hosting Upgrade: Hostinger to WP Engine
One of the most consequential decisions we made for this build — and one that Jane’s buyers will feel without ever knowing why — was migrating the site from Hostinger to WP Engine.
This isn’t a knock on Hostinger. For early-stage websites, budget-tier hosting gets the job done. But a luxury real estate site is a different proposition. It’s a first impression for buyers considering six- and seven-figure decisions. Page speed, uptime, and security are not optional amenities.
WP Engine is managed WordPress hosting built specifically for performance. The infrastructure handles caching, CDN delivery, and server-level optimization so the site loads fast — on desktop and mobile — without requiring ongoing intervention from us or from Jane. Their staging environments make future updates clean and risk-free. Their security layer handles the category of threats that tend to target WordPress sites running on less-protected shared hosting.
For Jane’s clients, this means a site that responds instantly when they’re browsing from a cabin in Sequim or a hotel in Port Angeles during a property tour weekend. For Jane, it means fewer worries and a site that will scale cleanly as her business grows.
Why This Project Matters
We’ve been building real estate websites at The X Concept since 2001, and the honest truth is that most agent websites look identical. A hero photo, a search bar, a headshot, and a contact form — templated, forgettable, and indistinguishable from the next agent’s site in the same MLS.
Jane’s site is built to be recognizably hers. The photography choices, the community copywriting, the pacing of the homepage — every decision is oriented toward the kind of buyer she actually wants to reach: someone who has done their research, who knows the difference between Port Ludlow and Port Townsend, who is making a significant life decision and wants an advisor with genuine depth of knowledge.
That’s what a well-designed real estate website can do when it’s built intentionally: it pre-qualifies and attracts exactly the right client.
